Healthy Samosa

Yes! You heard us right!! We experimented and made healthy samosas!! They are healthy primarily because of the filling inside and the fact they have been shallow fried instead of being deep fried. Here is our recipe. Hope you enjoy it as much as we and our family did!

For the filing
  • Paneer / cottage cheese - 100 gms grated
  • Carrot - 1, grated
  • Coriander leaves - finely chopped
  • Tomato - 1 finely chopped
  • Green Chilies - 3 finely chopped
  • Bread - 1 toast, shredded
  • Salt - to taste
For the cover
  • All purpose flour - 1.5 cups
  • Oil - to fry
  • Water to make dough
  • Black jeera / kalonji - 1/2 tsp.
  • In a bowl, mix all the ingredients of the filling and keep it aside.

  • In a separate bowl, make a hard dough of the all purpose flour and keep in fridge for 2 / 3 minutes.
  • On a flat base, make balls of the dough and roll them into thin rounds using a rolling pin.
  • Cut from the center and make cone. Add the filing like a samosa and seal the ends of the samosa with water.
  • In a frying pan, add little oil. Shallow dry the samosas till they are golden brown. Serve with your favourite chutney / sauce.
