Kitchen Tips

It's all about the prep. The better you prep before starting on the dish, the quicker and smarter you can cook.

The smaller the item the higher the baking temperature it will take. For example, if you are baking a few macarons, it may take upto 12 minutes while 30 macarons may be done in 5 minutes.

Store spices / herbs in a cool dark place and away from your gas stove or oven. The heat will make the spices useless.

When deep frying, use a tong to hold each piece of food to the oil for 5 seconds before dropping it to the oil. This way the bottom of the piece of food gets cooked a little and stops it from sticking to the bottom of the pan.

When making chicken stock / vegetable stock / fish stock, make in large quantities and deep freeze as ice cubes. While cooking you may use as required.

Ginger stays fresh longer if stored in a plastic bag in refrigerator.

To cook the perfect pasta, boil it in a lot of water and add a little salt. The boiling water will stop the pasta from sticking.
